Know exactly what the exam tests

Arizona’s notary exam is 45 questions in 60 minutes, and you need 80% to pass: at least 36 of 45. You can miss at most 9.

And it is open book. The state’s 66-page Reference Manual is built into the exam itself.

Open book sounds easy. An 80% bar is not.

With nine misses to give, every fact has to be findable fast. The signature fee cap is $10. The bond is $5,000. The filing fee is $43. This course covers the whole manual and drills the numbers until you produce them without looking.

Everything you get

  • 26 lessons in the order that has worked for 39,000 students. Every page of the manual, on video, explained, plus printable reference PDFs.
  • You sit the real exam having already passed it three times. Two timed 45-question exams plus a final, at the real pace, on the real question style. When the hour starts for real, it is your fourth time.
  • 15 judgment calls before the real ones. A credible witness with no ID. A copy certification that turns out to be a trap. A signature in the wrong ink. You make the call; the law answers.
  • Every answer explained, every explanation cited to the manual page. 295 questions written like the real exam’s, with the source beside every answer.
  • The numbers, until you produce them cold. Flashcards for the dollar amounts and the deadlines, a 16-term crossword, and a 47-question rapid-fire true/false.
  • The drive to the test, turned into a final review. An audio review built for the car.

Why It Works

Open book does not mean easy. It means the clock is the enemy: 45 questions in 60 minutes leaves about 80 seconds per question, and every lookup eats time you need for the next one.

So this course builds both skills. Where the facts live: how the manual is organized and how to find any rule in it fast. And what to stop looking up: the fees, deadlines, and numbers that show up on every exam, drilled on flashcards until you produce them cold.

And the lesson order is not new. It is the sequence our schools have taught for 14 years, through more than 39,000 students in two other states, pointed at Arizona’s manual page by page.

QUICK ANSWERS

Have a question not covered here? Feel free to use our contact form or give us a call.

No. Arizona requires the exam, not a course. And Arizona designates no official trainer or endorsed training company. Not anyone else, and not us. A course is preparation.

The state’s side: a $35 exam fee, a $43 filing fee, and a $5,000 bond you buy from an insurer. If your registration still routes through the old testing vendor, the exam fee posts at $46.75.

Your course never expires. Your edition is yours for life, and if the state revises the manual before you pass, the updated edition is yours free on top. One honest warning: retake waits can be long. The current notice puts a 30-day wait after a third failed attempt; the manual-era rule runs 30 days after any failure and a full year after three. If you are renewing near your commission’s expiration, a wait can run past your deadline, so sit the exam early. The 60-day refund stands regardless.

Yes, in four years, if you want prep: since July 1, 2025, renewal requires passing the same exam again. Returning students get a loyalty discount.
