Yes. Since July 1, 2025, the exam is required for every renewal — no exemption for prior commissions or experience (A.R.S. § 41-270). You may file the renewal up to 60 days before expiration, with a new $5,000 bond, filing fees, and a new seal for the new term. The trap is timing: if you fail near your expiration date, the retake wait can run past it, and an expired commission has no grace period — so pass it well ahead.
